I Made a Key Kiwi Pie (by mistake)

Have I ever believed that Key Lime Pie has kiwis anywhere in its recipe?

No. No, I have not.

Despite this fact, when I received a bunch of kiwis in my recent Odd Box, did my mind go, “Oh, I could make a Key Lime Pie?

Yes. Yes, it did.

Did I then make a Key Lime Pie, using kiwis instead of limes?

Yes. Yes, I did.

Was it delicious, despite this unintended ingredient substitution?

Yes. Yes, it was.

Did it take over twenty-four hours before my brain went, “Wait, kiwis aren’t limes”?

Yes. Yes, it did.

And so, voila! Behold the Key Kiwi Pie.

Half an eaten dessert in a pie dish. It consists of a biscuit base and a yellow pudding mixture in the middle.

This has been a brief insight into how my brain works. Or doesn’t work, depending on how you look at it. Either way, I ended up with a delicious dessert and discovered that Key Kiwi Pie is a totally valid recipe.

Just don’t try to make it with limes instead of kiwis. Because then you’ll just feel like an idiot.
